Planning Commission
The Planning Commission (PC) is a seven-member body, five of whom are appointed from the populace of the township, and who serve three-year terms. The two other members consist of a Township Board representative, generally a trustee, and a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, who serve as liasons with their respective boards.
The PC meets every other month, and is tasked by law with planning the growth of the township, establishing guidelines for the types of uses that will take place within the township, and where those activities will be allowed. It also reviews special requests and site plans, and may forward those requests to the Board along with its recommendation to that body regarding the proposal. Currently the township has both a standard PC and has four representatives on the Joint Planning Commission, which shares authority with the City of Fremont and the Township of Dayton.
